Hello Meelis, thank you for your request.
You can shut off the device screen to preserve battery and the timelapse capture will continue to take pictures.
Did you know that this feature existed or was your request referring to something else?

Hi Noah, thanks for the quick reply. I made some tests, found out that the capturing continues until about 1 minute after screen locking (6 frames at 10-seconds rate, 12 images at 5-second rate, but 0 frames at 1min-10sec rate). Maybe it is some security or battery optimization feature of the Android itself? My phone is Samsung A52s, Android OS ver 13

Meelis Saluvee: Thank you for the response. I've done a few tests and I believe I've replicated the problem. I'm not sure if this is a regression but I'm going to do some tests with older versions of Velocity Lapse and see.
You might be right about it being something with Android itself so I'll do some tests for that possibility as well.
Thanks again for bringing this to my attention.

Meelis Saluvee: I've fixed the issue and it will be working in the next update. (It was indeed a regression).
Do you think that a black screen/lock screen is still necessary? Just wondering in case there are any other use-cases I haven't thought about.

Noah: Great news, will wait!
And no, if the capturing works with locked phone then all good - it will prevent unexpected clicks, too.
